Venue Hire FAQS

What is the difference between Tier 1 Vs Tier 2 Pricing?

(Please familiarise yourself with Proposition’s venues on our website)

Tier 1

Tier 1 offers an affordable way for you to book our spaces and run your events. Your date will be secured and you will have access to the room’s equipment.

Tier 1 - Event support – With Tier 1 no event support is provided

Tier 1 - Room setup  – The room will be provided in it’s default configuration. Any setup will need to be handled by the booker and the space needs to be reset back to it’s original setup at the end of the booking.

Tier 1 - Cleaning and reset – A fixed cleaning fee applies to each booking. This covers the preparation of the room and relevant toilet areas before, as well as cleaning of toilets and surfaces after your event. However,  the organiser is responsible for learning all rubbish and decorations at the end of the booking, and for resetting the room to the configuration in which it was originally received.

Tier 2

Tier 2 – This option is best suited for events that require more support from the venue management team. In some cases, Tier 2 is mandatory and not optional.

When will I need to book the Tier 2 option?

Tier 2 is required if any ONE of the following applies to your event:

  • I require support with setup and pack down of the event

  • I require support with managing guests access

  • I wish to sell tickets to the public for an event with over 100 people attending

  • My event involves the sale of alcohol

  • My event is a live music event (including DJ sets)

  • My event requires a Security team

Tier 2 - Event support

Tier 2 includes a Duty Manager, whose role it is to support with:

  • Providing access to the space

  • Assisting with technical issues (e.g. power, basic audio-visual setup, and equipment provision)

  • Responding to any accidents or incidents and managing emergencies

  • Supporting with room setup

  • Supporting guest entry and exit management

  • Supporting pack down and reset

  • Locking up the space

  • Managing the bar team (if applicable)

Tier 2 - Room setup  – The room will be set up to the preferred configuration by the team in advance of your booking. For example : Lecture theatre / empty space / bar setup, with pre-requested equipment and furniture provided.

Tier 2 - Cleaning and reset – A fixed cleaning fee applies to each booking. This ensures the room and relevant toilet areas are cleaned and prepared for your event. It also covers the cleaning of toilets and surfaces after your event. However,  the organiser is responsible for removing all rubbish and decorations at the end of the night.  As well as resetting the room to the configuration in which they received the space.

Pricing and Resident Artist discount

Our pricing is available on our website. Resident artists are able to book our spaces at a 50% discount. This discount applies to the room’s hourly rate. It does NOT apply to the cleaning fee and any additional fees such as staffing. These are charged at fixed hourly rates, which are also available on our website.

Minimum booking time

All room hires have a minimum booking time of 4 hours. This must include setup and reset time, so please factor this in when making your booking. Any overtime may result in additional charges, not just for the room, but also for each staff member whose booking time is exceeded.

Food and Drink during and Event

Can I serve food & Soft drinks at my event?

Yes, food can be served at your event. As the booker you are responsible for organising and ensuring that food is stored and served safely. It is the booker’s responsibility to ensure all food waste and rubbish is cleared and removed from site at the end of the event. Failure to do so may incur additional costs.

Are External Suppliers allowed?

  • External suppliers can be used. It is the booker’s responsibility to carry out due diligence on any supplier by checking their food hygiene rating and food business registration online.

  • The Proposition team must be notified of any external supplier in advance, including their business name and any power and water requirements.

  • Considerations must be given to where the caterer will set up and serve. Unless pre-agreed with Proposition, no other space is to be used other than the spaces booked.

  • It is the responsibility of the booker to ensure all food waste and rubbish is cleared and removed from site at the end of the event. Failure to do so may incur additional costs.

Alcohol during my event

Can I serve alcohol at my event?

Yes alcohol can be served by you, provided it is not sold. Including alcohol in the ticket price or providing it in exchange for tokens/vouchers is NOT permitted and is not compliant with our Licensing.

Can I sell alcohol at my event?

No. All alcohol must be sold directly by the Proposition team. This is a condition of our premises license.

SECURITY

Do I need security for my event?

Security is needed for your event if any one of the following applies:

  • Alcohol is being consumed, either sold or provided free of charge, and the total attendance exceeds 100 people (including staff, organisers, and suppliers, not just visitors)

  • Live music is being played (including DJ sets) and tickets are being sold

  • The Venue’s pedestrian gate is being used as the main entrance for the event and attendance exceeds 100 people

How many security staff will I need for my event?

The minimum requirement is 1 security staff member per 100 people (including organisers and staff) For example:

  • 80 people – 1 security staff member

  • 120 people – 2 security staff members

How long do I need to have security for?

The minimum shift per security staff member is 4 hours.  Security must be booked to start at least 30 minutes before the event start time. In most cases security is not required during setup.

The full security team must stay until the last guest has left. At least one security staff member must remain on site until all remaining staff are ready to leave.

PLEASE NOTE:

The above are minimum requirements and act as a guideline for planning and budgeting for your event. In rare scenarios the Proposition management team may request additional security. This may be due to the nature of the event, other activities in the space at the same time, or the need to manage multiple access and exit points across different rooms.
