Immersive choral performance
Originally conceived by Razi Khader
With Hiba Salameh and choir from the London Arab Orchestra
Part of the programme accompanying our current exhibition From the Land
It gives us great joy to host Afrah wa Atrah: Sonic Practices of Displacement, a moving investigation of sound as a means of spatial access. The immersive choral performance examines how sonic practices produce spatial presence when architecture is denied, fragmented, or lost, and how they organise life across joy and grief. The performance, originally conceived by architect Razi Khader, will be hosted by Proposition and performed in collaboration with Hiba Salameh and a 50-member choir from the London Arab Orchestra, assembling spatial and sonic fragments of Palestinian weddings and funerals.
Razi Khader is an architect and architectural researcher based in London. He studied at Diploma 12 at the Architectural Association, where his work explored how architects can engage with alternative forms of spatial production through sound, cultural practice, and storytelling. His practice focuses on designing spaces and spatial narratives, with an interest in tangible and intangible cultural heritage, memory, and the cultural practices that shape place.
The exhibition will be open on the day from 1-7pm
